vSphere new install SSO fails

Using VMUG, so I'm high and dry here otherwise.  Brand new install, Server 2012 R2 host VM.  Absolutely cannot log in, have no idea on the direction to go since even the admin account password I set doesn't work.  Have tried domain\user as well as admin/administrator@system-domain with the same result.  Have no options left, feel like a sucker for blowing the cash on VMUG Advantage.  I should have stayed with Xenserver.

Ok, first of all, what version did you deploy? Is this vCenter 6.5? And you installed it on Windows, yes? If so, did you try to login to the webclient (https://<FQDN>/vsphere-client/) using administrator@vsphere.local? Is this a brand new deployment here or an existing one? More details will allow us to help you better.

Apologies.

6.5.

Server 2012 R2, all updates that I can get, brand new OS deployment (both times...grrr)

Login via the local admin account does not work at all, which is most confusing since I'm the one that would set that password.

Do yourself a favor. Throw away that Windows VM and deploy the vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA). It'll make your life way easier.

What are you deploying this to? An ESXi host? Workstation? Fusion?
