Adding a second SCSI controller?

I have this Oracle database Windows server 2012 R2 VM that my management periodically asks to add a 100GB hard disk to it.

They've been doing this before I got here...

Over time, they have 13 hard disks!  I know that the limit per SCSI controller is 15.

Is it a big deal to add a second SCSI controller to this VM and start adding hard disks to it?

Yes, is always a best practice add a dedicated SCSI controller to the data disks, and don't forget to choose the Paravirtual SCSI (PVSCSI), which offers better performance.

Thank you for that Richardson Porto!

This W2K12R2 VM (6 vCPUs and 20GB RAM) with Oracle Database installed is currently already using the LSI Logic SAS.

We just recently upgraded to 6.5, need to upgrade the VM hardware version and tools, I guess not much I can do about the SCSI controller at this point.

I suppose I could add the second one as PVSCSI.

In any case, I guess I will need to add another controller since we are approaching 15 disks.

Any general comments about adding this many disks in general?

We are looking at other options, but seems to me we should add more space per disk at a time or other storage option.

This is Oracle ASM data, so add 100GB disk formatted RAW at a time...
