ESXi 6.5 stand alone VAAI unsupported why??

hi friends

I have an ESXi 6.5 (free version) Stand alone server with 6 hdd in 2 RAID5 (Dell PowerEdge T410, PERC H700)

My problem is some of my vm´s hdd have grown up 500GB and then 50GB back, and when I try to move it to another server or Workstation Pro the size of this vm is 500GB and it takes "days" moving.

When I check VAAI Support says: "unsupported" and I don´t know why. I have read a little and I find out the "VAAI unsupported" means I can´t do storage space reclamation to re-size vms and move them easily.

can somebody give me a hand, and tell me what I can do?

I will appreciate any help, I am new in vSphere.

Reggards.

So you're surprised that you don't have an enterprise-class storage feature and flexibility with a license for which you paid nothing running on old hardware in an unsupported configuration? Don't be. Take what you can get as it comes. Create a new drive and move files around if you need to.

I have not your experience and knowledge, you didn't tell me "loud and clear" what to do, but a thanks to you for your response.

VAAI is not supported in the free version. Even if it were it would have no effect in your case because you're using local storage. Your hardware you have is also not supported on the version of ESXi you're running, which you probably don't care if it is or isn't. Create a new virtual disks and move files to the new disk, then swap the disk with the "inflated" 500 GB one. Free software has natural limitations, and this is one.
