Axis T8311 Joystick

I am struggling to get Fusion to recognise the Axis T8311, a USB 2.0 joystick manufactured by Axis Communications. I can see the device on the USB tree on my Mac (High Sierra) in System Information, but I cannot see it in the list of available USB devices to connect in Fusion prior to booting up the Windows VM or after booting it. I have tried following all the debugging suggestions, quirks, etc. Other joystick gaming controller devices do appear.

It seems to be a problem with Fusion not seeing it, so that it can offer it up to the Windows VM. Any suggestions?

I ran a quick test using Parallels and the device was seen correctly and works perfectly fine. So, I believe it is VMware Fusion not seeing the device in the USB tree and then presenting that as an option.

Any way to manually add choices to the list of connectable USB devices?

One possibility is because that Fusion sees the joystick as a mouse instead of a game controller. Mouse will be considered a Human Interface Device (HID).

You could try adding the line (if it isn't there)

usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"

in the vmx configuration file and see whether it makes the Axis T8311 appear in the USB connect option.

Thanks for the response, it was a very good idea. But, this did not work.

Did you ever find a solution for this?  I will be trying to get this to work soon as well.
