i had noticed the article such as VMware Knowledge Base
and trying to rebuild a new infrastructure with version 6.5U1 (ESXi and vcenter)
there will be two clusters(two servers)
the cluster A uses intel cpu xeon E5-26xx v3
and another cluster B uses intel cpu xeon gold 5120
i would like to migrate the powered on VMs between these clusters
and I set cluster A into haswell mode and cluster B with broadwell mode
the powered on VMs in cluster A can be migrate to cluster B with no problems
but...VMs in cluster B just unable to migrate to cluster A and showing the error messages:
"The target host does not support the virtual machine's current hardware requirements.
To resolve CPU incompatibilities, use a cluster with Enhanced vMotion Compatibility (EVC) enabled. See KB article 1003212
3DNow! PREFETCH and PREFETCHW are unsupported."
the EVC mode i set for these two clusters should be the only mode which is correct for them.
can anyone give some suggestions?
You can't have one cluster set higher than the other and still migrate VMs between them. There is, at best, a 2-year gap between those CPU generations. So if you want to migrate between both, set your Cluster A to the highest EVC mode possible and set Cluster B to match that mode (i.e., both to Haswell). Otherwise you expose features to the VMs in Cluster B that cannot be matched in Cluster A, hence why you see that error message.
