VMware Worstation 14.1.1 Black Screen when creating VM Host

Hi There,

I still experiencing Black Screen issues when creating a host. I already posted about this a while back.

My System:

Dell AMD Ryzen 7 1800x

Samsung 960 Pro M.2 NVME

Radeon RX 580 with latest drivers 17.12.2

VMware Workstation Pro 12.5.8 is working fine.

Would you please provide more info for our further investigation:

1. What's the host OS and guest OS

2. Besides WS14.1.1 did your host install any other software/apps?

3. Would you please provide the vmware.log and ui log (please get location info from Help -> About VMware Workstation).

4. Would you please upload vm-support package as well (Help -> support ->Collect Support Data).

Hi There,

I tried to import "Esxi 6 VM" but that gave me a Black Screen, So it did trying to create a Windows 8 Host. I have VM Worstation Pro 14.1.1 installed under Windows 10 Pro

2018-01-11T10:14:41.763-08:00| vmui| W115: Poll_SocketPair: Error creating a inet socket pair: 10013/An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions

A socket error 10013 can be caused by antivirus or firewall software. Basically, a needed socket connection is being denied. Socket error 10013 is a message which implies that a port is blocked and/or unreachable.

Well, I decided to reinstall Windows 10 Pro to test VMware Workstation Pro 14.1.1. Antivirus or Firewalls are not going to be included. The only program that I'm going to install is VMware Workstation Pro 14.1.1. If my test is unsuccessful, I will attach a new set of Logs.

Ok, I'm glad to report that I finally nailed it down. For those that may run into the same problem, in my case, it turn out to be my VPN Application. I'm using "IPVanish", once I completely turn it off, I was able to create VM Host without any issues. I get no more Black Screens.
