Steps 2, 3, 4 are all validated - but can be done in any order.

You do not need to do a VCA first - you might have noticed it was not one of the listed requirements.

That's the vSphere 6.5 Foundations exam - it's a core exam for all 4 types of VCP: DCV, DTM, CMA, NV

Anyone can take that exam, it doesn't give you a certification on it's own.

The answer to your question depends on which certification you're working towards - I'm going to guess that you want to do achieve the VCP6.5-DCV certification, and you're wondering whether a vSphere 6.0 course will qualify you for it.

If I'm right, the answer is no - check Path 2 on this page for the requirements: VMware Certified Professional 6.5 - Data Center Virtualization

But, there's an alternative.

Rather than take the What's New class under Path 2 on that page, you could complete the requirements for VCP6-DCV (pass 2V0-620 and 2V0-621), and then "upgrade" to VCP6.5-DCV by passing the 2V0-622D exam.

Check Path 1 on this page to complete VCP6-DCV: VCP6-DCV Certification

Then Path 1 on this page to "upgrade" to VCP6.5-DCV: VMware Certified Professional 6.5 - Data Center Virtualization

Hi.. I also need some help. For VCP6.5-DCV now the path 1 says -

1: Gain experience with vSphere 6.5 (minimum 6 months recommended).

2: Attend one of the required training courses.

3: Pass the vSphere 6 Foundations Exam or vSphere 6.5 Foundations Exam.

4: Pass the VMware Certified Professional 6.5 – Data Center Virtualization Exam.

So can i give - vSphere 6.5 Foundations Exam and get training and then give VCP6.5 DCV or i have to start with VCA-DBT  first.

Hi,

you do not need the VCA-DBT. The vSphere 6.5 Foundations Exam with the proper Training is enough.

Thanks for the info. So that means if I go this route "complete the requirements for VCP6-DCV (pass 2V0-620 and 2V0-621), and then "upgrade" to VCP6.5-DCV by passing the 2V0-622D exam"  I can study at home and go do take the exam at Test Center without taking the mandatory VCP-6.5-DCV VmWare authorized training center?

Thanks.

That depends entirely on any previous certification and training that you already hold.

If you’re not already a current VCP, there is only 1 path to getting any of the 4 VCPs that does not have a training requirement - VCP6-NV for holders of certain Cisco certifications.

Bear in mind that the portion of my reply above that you quoted was in response to someone who was asking about vSphere 6.0 training.

Thanks for your response Scott. Yea still Path 1 requires training courses at an authorized commercial training center.
