Can you be more specific? This is a very broad question to attempt to answer.

There are several way's to monitoring the traffic. You can do that by setting up SNMP on the physical switches. We use PRTG for that.

Yes, vRNI can do that, but you need to upgrade your vSphere to use it.

If you're on 5.1, then you *really* need to upgrade anyhow because 5.1 was out of support in August of 2016. At a minimum you should be on 5.5.

for SNMP-usage on the physical switches its important that you can "access" them or configure them by the network administrator.

I am that same person on my company so I had no problems with that...

without access to the physical switches, you can eventhough use PRTG. You can "add" vCenter to PRTG and then use SNMP Traffic sensor that is there when its a Windows VM, but also Linux. SNMP is broadly used for monitoring-purposes.

You can use PRTG for multiple services. There is a free-version at https://www.paessler.com/prtg

thanks, but i'm already using snmp with OPmanager but there is no option to select two VMs to see send and received and the same scenario in solarwinds

You won't even be able to use a trial version until you upgrade to 5.5.
