whats the version of your vcenter and ESXi host?

You can check the below VMware Kbs which gives you idea abt limitations and support for increasing the vmdk

I believe it's just on VM side of storage expansion and Data store has enough space for this expansion.

What is the Operating system you are going to expand it?

What version of VMFS you currently have?

What is the version of vCenter/ESXi?

Based on the answers -we can confirm if it's possible to expand or not

If all the versions match (above) then it will be easy to extend at vSphere first and followed by Guest OS

Check that your storage supports that

Check that your vSphere version supports that

Increase LUN size

Extend VMFS volume

For more details we need more info. What vSphere version ? What kind of storage ? Storage firmware may also be relevant.
