ESX boot-up question on 6.5U1

Hi Experts,

I have question on ESX 6.5 installation.

I have 6.5 U1 installed on Local disk of HP 380 G8 Server with RAID-0 Configured on it. Today i came to know that server's mother board has been Faulty.. Vendor is arranging replacement for the same.

Time being should i remove the 2 HDD disks from faulty server to another HP 380 G8 server. Will that work ? ESX will boot in without any issue?? I have not tried yet hence asking this community.

Please consider marking this answer "correct" or "helpful" if you think your query have been answered correctly. Regards Amol Jadhav VCP NSXT | VCP NSXV | VCIX6-NV | VCAP-DCA | CCNA | CCNP - BSCI

If it's the exact same hardware inventory and configuration it ***should*** work. I give "should" a three-star caveat because it's supposed to work, but in my years of experience doing that type of swap something inevitably happens that either makes it fail entirely, or a partial reconfiguration necessary. In general, not that it helps you in the here and now, I'd stay away from RAID-0 boot devices because they add complexity and double the chance of faults taking out the boot disk.
