Extending RDM disk which is part of Software RAID may break the disk layout at Guest OS.

We have Windows VM with Exchange installed on it and it's Execs mail box server.

There is M:\ drive created with 7 TB (RDM disk) + 500 GB VMDK = 7.48 TB as SPANNED DISK via Sofware RAID at Guest OS

We need to increase the disk space by 1 TB to this disk

A) Can we extend the physical RDM by 1 TB?

B) Can we just add another 1 TB VMDK + add to spanning disks?

C) Can we extend 500 GB VMDK to 1.5 TB + extend at Guest OS

We ended up migrating the data from the software RAID disk to new RDM disk with 10 TB size.

Followed by deleting the Software RAID volume Smiley Happy
