ESXi 6.0 u2 not recognizing my VD in a RAID 5 using RMS3CC080 Intel 8-port SATA/SAS RAID Controller

Forgive me if I leave out any details you may need to help me with my issue. Please let me know if that's that's case.

I have installed ESXi 6.0 u2 on an SSD that's attached to my RMS3CC080 raid controller and I have verified that it's on VMware's HCL. The SSD is not part of the RAID and I have no issues installing ESXi on the SSD. However, I have 3 x 2TB SCSI drives in a RAID 5 format on the same RAID controller and I am having an issue adding them as a datastore. In vsphere I can see the storage information for my RAID 5 array. (See storage adapters details screenshot)

However, when I go to "add storage", select Disk/LUN, and then select my RAID 5 VD, I get the loading... screen and then eventually it says that my hard disks are blank. (see screenshot)

I have tried the resolution listed from this link without success. Has anybody come across this issue?

And what is shown in device information, if you go to "Configuration">"Storage">select "View:Devices" ? Are there any partitions on this device?

No device information is ever displayed. See screenshot. Thanks!

I stand corrected. After about an hour the device information finally populates to display the following:

I forgot to mention that I was able to install Windows server 2016 directly to the RAID array on this controller without an issue. So at this point I'm ruling out any issue with the RAID controller itself. So this has to be some compatibility problem with VMware, but I can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have also tried ESXi 5.5 & 6.5. Always the same problem.

Nothing comes up for me when I run the "# fdisk -l "/vmfs/devices/disks/DeviceName"" command. It just sits there. See screen capture.
