Hi,
Since vPostgres database was used while deployment of VCS on Windows. Limitation of VM guests are 200.
As 200 VM guests are not enough for our environment.
Otherwise, for migration with tool "VMware-Migration-Assistant", I have some questions.
Thanks
To answer your questions.
I known the only way is migrate to VCSA, is it right ?
Yes, and it should be your preffered way. The Windows vCenter Server will be deprecated on the future, and new features will only be available on the vCenter Server Appliance (ea. vCenter High Availability).
Any downtime is required ? (Since Citrix XenDesktop are connecting to VCS on Windows)
Yes, downtime is required for step 2 of the migration process. All configuration data will be copied to the new vCenter Server Appliance which requires the vCenter Server services to be stopped.
How long does migration take ?
It depends on the size of the database and if you want to retain historical data.
Any impact to existing VCS on Windows if migration FAILURE ?
No, the configuration of the existing vCenter Server will not be changed. Only the vCenter Server services will be stopped.
The vSphere documentation explains the prerequisites and migration process in detail, Migrating vCenter Server for Windows to vCenter Server Appliance
Two more quesitons,
1) Same hostname / IP will be used ?
2) Since vCenter connected to Citrix XenDesktop with vCS certificate, will same certificate used ? Or new certificate will be generated ?
Thanks
