What EVC mode to choose for these specific CPUs

Hi,

Can anyone please tell me what EVC mode should I choose for the below CPUs ?

ESXI Running version: 5.5.0, 4345813

I have these 4 host in a cluster. Wanted to Enable EVC without any trouble.

vmesx1 :- Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz"

vmesx2 :- Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz"

vmesx3 :- Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650  @ 2.67GHz

vmesx4 :- Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5650  @ 2.67GHz

You can use the VMware Compatibility Guide to search for the supported EVC modes for both CPU's. https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=cpu

It has an option to display the CPU/EVC matrix for multiple processor families.

The E5-2620 is from Sandy Bridge generation and the X5650 is from Westmere generation, this way you should select the Westmere EVC level, since that level is the highest EVC level compatible with both CPUs. For additional information see the following VMware KB article: VMware Knowledge Base

i dont think the vmware interface actually lets you choose a evc mode higher than what your cpus support.
