Hello
Since a while ago my vca has a full /storage/log volume. I have searched information about this, if it is a normal state or if it is a faulty state. I have some performance issues with my vcenter. It doesnt show statistics correctly either in the gui.
So where can I find information about if this is a normal state for a vca?
VCA vCenter server 5.5.0 build 1476327
Running with the integrated database
Aprox 1200 installed VMs, 350 running of them
I am thankful for very bit of information about this!
Kind regards Jens
Please mount a seprate disk to VCSA and run cronjob to move all the logs to that disk. This will make additional space in storage/log. you can also redirect your vpxd logs to other directory. Check this out. VMware KB: Changing the default log location for VMware vCenter Server
Thanks,
DJ
Hello
Thanks for your answer. Will do that.
Why are not the logs rotated when they get old/full? Are there any settings to adjust this?
Kind Regards Jens
There are mechanism for log rotation. you need to see what type of logs are consuming most of the space.

Hello again!
Long time, no see 😉
I have examined the vCenter server. I use vCenter as a log collector for my ESXi hosts. Each and every host logs about 300-500MB of data each day. This gives with 8 hosts 3,2GB of data each day. The Log volume is 20GB (as default i think) this gives that the vCenter Log volume is at 100% within a week.
How do I adjust the rotation of theese log files? Are there any method to rotate them manually?
I am currently leaning into a solution like this:

Regards Jens
Solved by deleting old logs folder in /var/log/remote/<folders>.
