Creating a blueprint from a deployed item

Hi All,

I've been trying to figure out how to put create a new blueprint from a deployed VM(or put it in a catalog in vCloud terms). So I have deployed a VM from a blueprint, made changes, e..g. installing software etc. I then undeploy the VM and I want to create a blueprint that will clone that VM. Here are several things I've tried:

1. Marking the VM as a template and do a bulk import for it to become a managed machine, then create a blueprint that clones the template.

2. Create a snapshot of the VM and create a a blueprint that will clone from the snapshot

Any other ideas would be much appreciated.

You can't really do this as you are trying to do. The closest you can get is to, outside of vRA entirely, clone a template to a VM, make any customization that you want inside that VM including, but not limited to, installing software. Shutdown that VM, convert to template, and run a data collection. You can then use *that* template in future catalog items inside vRA.
