I suspect you are running the installation using a domain account on Win2016 or Win2012?

This is a problem with user rights and security settings in later versions of Windows. Especially delegation rights are problematic here.

To solve this problem for domain accounts is in my opinion almost impossible. You need to change a plethora of settings and this is really time consuming and not everything you have to set to get the installation going is something, you want to use later, after installation has completed.

In my experience it is much easier to install VCenter 6.5 using a local administrative account. Using a local user solves almost all of those issues without the need of special configuration.

So my recommendation is, clear up the whole crashed install and copy you installation source to a local directory on the server. Afterwards logon as a local administrator and run the installlation from this logon session. Worked perfectly for me.

I have already tried this option.

I am not giving any specific domain account while doing the vCenter installation.

Please explain how can change plethora of settings.

First, do you have .NET Framework 3.5 installed ("Installation of component VCSServiceManager failed with error code '1603' " error (2127519) | VMwar... ) ?

Have a look at Installing vCenter Server on Windows fails with the error "Error 1402. Could not open key" (1029282)...

Additionally the computer, onto which you install vcenter, should be trusted for delegation.

It may be necessary to add permissions to a lot of keys during the installation.

You could try to disable LUA during installation, that removes a lot of permission problems.

What account do you use to install vcenter ?
