Hi,
Wondering if anyone has successfully created an Office 2016 appstack with SfB and Outlook/Exchange integration?
AV - 2.12.1
RDSH - Windows Server 2012 R2
computer-based appstack assignments. no writeable volumes
Office 2016 Click-to-run. 32-bit Deferred Channel (have also tried Current).
I find that creating the O2016 appstack with no 'extra' appstack exclusions has the following issues -
cannot search for users in SfB
no presence information in Outlook
cannot create SfB Meetings in Outlook.
I have also tried adding this exclusion in the appstack - exclude_registry=\REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY.
This does solve the previously mentioned issues, but creates another problem. The SfB client will start successfully, however I will see an error “The operating system is not presently configured to run this application” and requires a server restart. This error occurs after approx. 30 minutes of inactivity and then restarting SfB.
I tried adding this CtR Registry exclusion before installing O2016 and after, with same result.
I do not see any of these issues if I do an normal install of O2016 on the RDS host, so the issue does seem to be with App Volumes; not OS, firewall, anti-malware etc
Hello,
Please refer the KB https:\\kb.vmware.com\kb\2146035 for best practices on installing Microsoft products with App stack.
My recommendation on Skype is please place it on parent image, if everyone uses Skype in you organization.
also on creating meeting in outlook, have you validated the addin for Skype on outlook? check the existing addin's on your outlook client
regards.
