This happened to me twice so perhaps it won't happen to anybody else.
Host Windows Server 2016
WS 12.5.7 working perfectly. I uninstalled it in order to install the trial of WS 14. When I uninstalled WS 14 trial (The Server would not work) using the binary I could no longer re-install 12.5.7. Bizarre errors during the install includingn Windows questioning whether the WS drivers were OK (I overrode - what else could I do??).
This happened under Debian Sid as well but likely that was do to an upgrade to gcc.
Fortunately I had good backups of both OS's and the restore was valid. I take the precaution anyway of storing all VMs on non system drives.
Perhaps in a few months the bugs will be worked out and better kernel support will be available.:smileyangry:
