How are the rest of you dealing with pinning advertised shortcuts on the taskbar? By "advertised shortcut" I mean the kind that does not have a path in the target field. Microsoft uses them for Office (and other) products. Others publishers use them sometimes too. (More about advertised shortcuts.) These shortcuts actually point to the Installers directory under C:\Windows. Here is a guy who wrote a vbscript to show the actual target.
Normally when you pin or copy one of these shortcuts the shortcut gets converted into a non-advertised shortcut. It will now have a real path to the executable of the application.
The problem is when the application is on an AppStack that target path becomes something like C:\SnapVolumesTemp\MountPoints\{1ca2e473-0659-11e6-be68-005056b949ee}\PROGRA~2\MIF5BA~1\OFFICE14\OUTLOOK.EXE. This works until the next time I logon. The next time I logon the SnapVolumes mountpoint has different identifier and the shortcut is dead.
This was discussed in Apps in Stacks can no longer be pinned to Windows Taskbar after 2.6 upgrade where the thought was this broke in the 2.6 update and was fixed in the 2.7 update. I wonder if that was really true. If so it was broken again along the way.
Others having this issue? Anyone know a work around? I have considered going in my AppStack with Office and manually changing all the shortcuts to non-advertised shortcuts. I would also have to search for any other apps using advertised shortcuts. And would have to remember to check/fix this after any updates. Seems like a mistake prone pain.
