Appstack storage question?

Hi,

I have a question on datastore of app stacks, currently we are using one large datastore for storing all app stacks, is there any impact if I divide the large datasotre into multiple small datastores?

I am using XtreamIO as rest of population.

Thank you,

Pkmr.

You can't. For as far as I'm aware you would need to store all appstacks in the same location. You could create a storage group with multiple datastores. What happens than is that Appstacks are being synced to all datastores.

But just out of curiosity, why would you like to divide those appstacks between multiple small datastores?

Hi Ray,

thanks for response, the reason is right now we have 80 app stacks which is stored in one datastore [6 TB, XIO storage] and we have 600 user's who are using those app stacks, right here the number of reads and writes are increasing/high as we are increasing users.

Regards.

Than just create a second datastore and create a storage group. Appstacks will be synced between datastores and Appvolumes will randomly pick one of those datastores which spreads IOPS between datastores.

That being said. Official statement is that you can use up to 1000 attachments to 1 single appstack. We have seen up to 500 attachments to a specific appstacks without much issues. Using hybrid flash NFS storage though (Tintri). Not quite sure how many IOPS you can push out.
