Printer setup for Horizon published desktops/Apps.

Hello Team,

I have setup Horizon Infrastructure for one of my client and they have published their application over internet.

Now they have come with a requirement that end user should be able to take printouts while access their VDIs over WAN.

Below are the configuration details:

Horizon version : 7.2

VDI Protocol: VMware blast

Import dll and AD group policies changes done but no luck.

Installed driver on master image but unable to map printer as accessing VDI over WAN.

I dont see printer redirection happening in VDI.

I dont have much experience on Horizon,Please assist on priority.

Regards,

Nadim Shaikh

Hi,

Could you answer following questions.

1) What is OS type of client and agent?

2)  Are you trying to print in RDSH desktop or remote application? If application, which application?

3) Do you have same issue with PCoIP protocol?

4) If there are concurrent print job on the RDSH server? If yes, how many?

5) What do you mean by "dont see printer redirection happening in VDI."? When you open print dialog in application, there is no client redirected printer, or you can see the printer but no print output on client side?

Please find below details,

1) What is OS type of client and agent?

Win7 & Win 2016 server

2)  Are you trying to print in RDSH desktop or remote application? If application, which application?

We have published Win7 & Server2016 VDI.

3) Do you have same issue with PCoIP protocol?

No PCOIP  configured, Only VMware blast is configured.

4) If there are concurrent print job on the RDSH server? If yes, how many?

As printer is not configured so No print Job can be perform.

5) What do you mean by "dont see printer redirection happening in VDI."? When you open print dialog in application, there is no client redirected printer, or you can see the printer but no print output on client side?

Printer redirection term used when printer connected to your machine can be visible in Remote(Example-RDP) system if same driver is installed.

When a user establishes a remote session with a terminal server, the redirected printer will be available to applications running in the remote session.By default, a Windows Server 2008 terminal server first tries to use the Terminal Services Easy Print driver. If the client computer does not support this driver, the terminal server looks for a matching printer driver installed on the terminal server. You can either install a matching printer driver on the terminal server, or you can create a custom printer mapping file.
