2. Re: vsphere alert vmware common logging service health alarm
ephox Mar 21, 2016 8:43 PM (in response to ephox)It appears I may have a problem with log rotation. The /storage/log directory has been kept in check for a while but now it seems each day to be at 95% disk usage.
df -h
9.9G 8.9G 544M 95% /storage/log
Is it OK to manually delete the contents of the large subdirectories such as: /storage/log/vmware/SSO, vdcs, vsphere-client?
Thanks for your assistance!

sysadmSNT May 17, 2016 12:54 AM (in response to ephox)Hi,
We encountered the same issue recently.
Check this KB about log4j tunning : VMware KB: Heavy logging on the Platform Services Controller Appliance 6.0 causes /storage/log to fill up

SebastianGrugel Oct 25, 2016 4:31 AM (in response to TomKalabis)Thanks all for resources but for me problem still exist.
I create separate thread for this vROPS 6.1.0 - alerts - object is not available for vCenter License Performance Charts Common Logging vAPI Endpoint service
But there i have problems with much more services...
Looks like this service "Common Logging Service" from time to time is not working.
I think this can be related with service: vmware-syslog-health
because when i edit this object Common Logging Service in vRops:
And bellow information about some repeated outage for service:
Some advice ?
Im looking for some log where can i see some problems with this service....

Hilme Sep 22, 2017 8:20 PM (in response to SebastianGrugel)I have the same problem as yours, there are intermittent alarm "object is not available" that were active only less than a minute. This happened few times every hour.
Object name: VMware Server Health Service
@SebastianGrugel I also came across your other post you did set in on maintenance mode to disable logging. What are the impacts by enabling the maintenance mode?

SebastianGrugel Sep 23, 2017 4:22 AM (in response to Hilme)I stop received alerts. But often after some times this problem back because somehow vROps created anopther monitoring agent and in vROPS.
Today we dont have this problem... if i giood remember we impelemnt some update.
I will ask my colleague in next week if you need.
