vSAN Assessment Tool configuration help

I am trying to setup vSAN Assessment Tool.  I get thru the first 2 steps ok,  I manually installed the vib files, and the service is running.

I tell it on Step 3 Vib Installation options,  I picked manual mode.  It spins around for a bid and then gives me the Following message.

In Manual Installation mode, please install the vscsi-stats VIB before continuing from here. The following hosts do not have the VIB pre-installed: [server1, server2 ].

I have installed the vib files and the services are running.  The appliance is running in the same VLAN as the esxi hosts and vcenter.  There is no firewall between them.

I am using Planner 2.0.1670.

There isn't a category to file a support ticket to GSS for this.

Any ideas on what to do?

Hello,

If you open a ticket under vSAN as product it will go to vSAN team and then possibly re-routed depending on the issue (e.g. VIP/other tools functionality as opposed to an ESXi/vSAN issue).

Did you restart hostd on the hosts after installing and checking the vscsistatsd is running?

If that doesn't work then try uninstall and manually re-install:

Bob,

I restarted hostd,  and verified that vscsistatsd is running.  Even rebooted the hosts and reloaded the vib file.

Still didn't work.

The guide references that user needs to have the "vCenter Operations Manager User" role,  but I don't see that in VCenter 6.5 Update 1.

I don't have vRealize Cops.

Not sure if that matters or not.

Hello,

Are "server1, server2" the only (data)nodes in this cluster and if not, is there anything different about these?

Have you tried the Automated installation method?

I can't find the reference to 'vCenter Operations Manager User' you mentioned, the installation doc only mentions requiring vCenter administrator credentials

Open a Support Request, it could be a known issue and if so the relevant team should have the solution, do let us know here the outcome for others experiencing similar issues.

(I would look into it further now but I (intentionally) have no internal access from home).

server1, server2 are the only hosts in the cluster.

I opened a SR,  I saw it the VMware Infrastructure Planner Security whitepaper.  http://files.vip.vmware.com/vmware_infrastructure_planner_security_whitepaper.pdf .

I tried auto,  it went past that screen but it shows failures for trying to install the vib files.   The messages when choosing auto saying hosts will go into maintenance mode, when in the latest version I thought I saw where the hosts don't need to go into maintenance mode.

I think there is a missing security piece for the role somewhere.

I will keep things posted once I get a solution.
