Yes you can use the same tuto, but I would recommend you to follow official VMware docs. Ok, the point here is the upgrade process is same for Custom image and Vmware GA image.
You should make sure that if your current ESXi is custom build then you should upgrade with custom build image from same vendor.

Ok but when i do
https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml | grep ESXi-6.5.0
it's only give me nack the offical realese, how can i get HPE release?
in the HPE Software Delivery Repository vibsdepot (aka HPE Online Depot) i only can download driver update, not esxi hypervisor update.
The commandesxcli software sources profile list -d http://vibsdepot.hpe.com/hpe/hpe-index.xml
return nothing because it's for update manager i suppose.
I've tried others .xml files but no one return me something.
I should use vmware depot for update ESXi hypervisor and then use hpe depot for driver?
there are multiple ways to upgrade the ESXi VIBs. please refer the below KB article
If you are not sure about all of this process then follow the below steps
- manually download the Custom ESXi zip file from HP website
- upload the file to datastore
- place the host into maintenance mode
- ssh to the host and run the command
esxcli software vib install -d “/vmfs/volumes/Datastore/DirectoryName/
Option 2: interactive installation

I was looking for a online update, but it seems it's not possible since i have no vCenter and update manager installed.
