vms on esxi host turn off every day

Good day!

I installed a esxi 6.5 host evaluation copy last week for a test purpose before eventual deployment. However the two vms i created and installed with windows server 2012 r2; one as AD and the other as resource, i notice that every evening after closed of business before i return in the morning the next day i find that the vms are off. I have configured the autostart, checked logs but found noting useful. My expectation is not to shutdown but remain on as long at esxi host server is on. I have tried all i can to get this resolved but to no avail. Please why is this so? Kindly help

Hi ,

Have you checked the event viewer system logs to find who initiated the shutdown. That will help you to identify the issue, if that is vmware tools, you have to check options at ESXi level else it could be from guest OS itself which has to be corrected from Windows end.

Regards,

If your esxi host part of cluster than you have check blow KB article. Check your Host Isolation Response settings.  I've seen this happen when the network drops.  If set to power off, this may be the cause...

Is your host up all the time? You can check startup/shutdown options under configuration Tab, because sometime VMs restarts with the restart of management agents, if its the case.
