Hi,
I started this discussion because I want to upgrade my certification which is at version 5 right now, but I'm seeing that VCP5-DCV certification expired in March. In my account is still says is valid.
So which one is it?
The second thing will be (if v5 is still valid) is it OK to upgrade to 6 by taking the 2V0-621D exam? I'm not ready for 6.5 exam yet and I kinda of need to hurry because I have another week or so.
Thanks,
Adrian
31st March 2017 was the last day that anyone could take the VCP550 exam to achieve VCP5-DCV - that exam is now retired. But that's a totally different thing to when your certification expires.
If your VCP5-DCV expires next month, then you will need to pass either 2V0-621 (regular) or 2V0-621D (delta) before then to achieve VCP6-DCV - this will also recertify your VCP5-DCV.
If it was March 2015 when you last passed an exam to achieve or renew your VCP5-DCV, it would be March 2017 when it expired.
To now achieve VCP6-DCV, you'll need to pass 2 exams and take training - check Path 4 here: VCP6-DCV Certification
The fact you have an expired VCP5-DCV allows you the option of taking the shorter/cheaper What's New class rather than a full 5-day class - but that's the only "credit" it gives you towards VCP6-DCV, if your VCP5-DCV had not yet expired Path 1 on the link above would apply to you.
The same would apply to VCP6.5-DCV.
It is March 2017, it's on VMware's site (VCP5-DCV) VCP-Data Center Virtualization. And sorry for the confusion, it says it retired, but on my VMware account is says it is still valid until next month.
OK, so the delta exam will work just fine for the upgrade.

Thanks a lot, much appreciate.
