I have recently upgraded to 7.3 and have configured the t-shirt sizing component profile and noticed when testing the reconfigure action that individual settings are available for both cpu and memory. I was hoping that in this setup the configure action would allow the user to choose a different t-shirt size but that does not appear to be the case or am I missing something to get this kind of behavior?
Thanks
Steve

Let me know if this answers your question.
I have it set up and it works. I just had the expectation that when using the OOB reconfigure action that it would present the Component Profile but rather presents the options to adjust both CPU and Memory independent of each other. It would appear the Component Profile is not getting passed to the action?
Unfortunately, this seems to be how it must work today. The configuration guide (PDF) describes this behavior on pp. 492-93:
You cannot reconfigure machines by using the Size or Image component profiles but the range of CPU,
memory, and storage that is calculated based on the profile remains available for reconfigure actions. For
example if you used a small (1 CPU, 1024MB memory, and 10 GB storage), medium (3 CPUs, 2048 MB
memory, 12 GB storage) and large (5 CPUs, 3072 MB memory, 15 GB storage) Size value set, the available
ranges during machine reconfiguration are 1-5 CPUs, 1024-3072 memory, and 1-15 GB storage
I, too, agree that reconfiguring by at least the size component profile is something that should be there. Maybe in 7.4 it will be.
Can anyone confirm whether this has been added to 7.4? I am too lazy to test it atm. :smileysilly:
It has not.
