Can't Update vmplayer Kernel

I recently had a kernel update. I was prompted to install the update which I did but the update does not install.  I have the following errors:

   Virtual machine monitor                                     failed

   Virtual ethernet                                                   failed

I did some research and I was told to deactivate secure boot on my BIOS but my BIOS does not have  the secure boot option. I do not know what to do. Please can you help me?

It would be better if you can provide details such as the Linux distro and kernel versions that you are using. The patches may vary.

In the meantime have a look at this thread whether it helps things to move along

Kernel Version: 4.10.0-27-generic

OS Version: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS

Thanks. I also tried the  solution in the link you added but it did not still work

So effectively you got the kernel from Ubuntu 17.04.

What version of VMware Player do you have? If I am not mistaken, you may not even need to do any code patching if you have VMware Workstation Player 12.5.7.
