Is there a way to change the format for selecting dynamic variables?

When a dynamic variable has a lot of results, for example when creating a dynamic variable for customers, it is incredibly large and unruly when selecting an item (see image). Is there any way to make this only display a certain number of items? Maybe just make the default 10? Or maybe calculate it to only take 20% of the window space?

I had to sensor the image pretty good, but you should get the gist.
