Black Screen after log in

When I connect to my RHEL 7 VM I get the login screen like normal, but once I enter my credentials I get a black screen for 3-5 minutes. sometimes if I wait long enough, I get a desktop that behaves normally. Sometimes it exits back to the connection screen.

Has anyone seen anything similar?

I am using:

connection Server - 7.2

linux agent - 7.2

vSphere - 6.5

Linux client - 4.4.0

Thanks

Sam

Hi sambrinck

you can check if Gnome Display Manager(GDM)  user password is not expired because recently I recently encounter one Kb of RedHat in which black screen comes.

What's your VM's vRAM value (Video card -> Total video memory)? Thanks.

This is a brand new system, including brand new user accounts so nothing should be expired

I have been trying to set the VRam to 128 Mb, for some reason it keeps getting set back to 35.19 Mb I'm not sure why

I ended up rebuilding almost everything from scratch to change domain names to what the customer expects, in doing so I've been more careful with certificates on all the boxes. I don't seem to be getting the black screen this time

I gues, when you create the desktop pool on broker, you did not select "Manage using vSphere Client" for "3D Renderer". If you select default setting, broker will set the vRAM
