Trouble importing a Vista PC using Migration Assistant with Fusion 6.

I am trying to use Migration Assistant with Fusion 6 to migrate my old PC running Windows Vista Home Premium x 64 to my mac.  Every time I try to attempt to do the migration, I get to the point where I have named the VM on the Mac, and after I enter credentials I get an error message on the mac side that says

"An error occurred" "unable to connect to the network share 192.168.11.11\vmwareMigration139"

(the number on the end changes every time).

The curious thing is that 192.168.11.11 is the Mac that I am attempting to do the import on.

I have done the following:

1) Installed Fusion 6 on my Mac running 10.9.1

2) Installed the VMWare Fusion PC Migration Assistant on my Vista PC

3) Rebooted the PC after it told me it needed to disable EUC.

4) Disabled the firewall on windows

5) Disabled the AV software

6) Validated that the firewall is off on the Mac

7) Validted that AV is off on the Mac

Other items of interest:

- I have a direct connection (Ethernet) between the Mac and the PC and am able to ping between them on the "Private" network.

- I have attempted the migration both over the Ethernet (wired) and wireless networks with no luck.

- I tried to use the direct IP of both interfaces on the PC, and the "code" that comes up to make things easier, with no luck.

Can anyone help me on where I might have gone wrong here?

Thanks.

I tried creating a VM out of a Vista tower using free VMWare vCenter Converter Standalone  to do it and it was a successful VM, with one exception: I could not get the VM to recognize an internet connection, and I tried that both on a Windows 8 machine running free VMWare Player as well as on a new MBP running Fusion 6, Mavericks. Neither worked. But I still had a license from an older Boot Camp installation of Vista and, while I didn't have a working DVD drive, I was able to download and create an .ISO...basically, I created a new VM with a new install of Vista and simply imported documents onto it from the old Vista tower as well as downloaded/installed applications as needed/desired. It may be a few more steps, but it may get you to "a" solution (maybe not "the" solution you wanted) more quickly. I found that I was able to get the desired networking working in both a Fusion (Mac) and VMWare Player (Win8) environments.

You will need to address Vista licensing, of course.

If you need help locating downloads to create a Vista .ISO (it takes a few steps as it comes in three files and requires a third app to create the .ISO in Windows), I can help. Thanks to WoodyZ for the help in getting me started on that Vista project.

I tried with this and works.

Set Up Your Mac to Accept the Transfer of Files from Your PC

You must set sharing and firewall system preferences on your Mac to allow the transfer of files needed to create the virtual machine from the physical PC.

Determine how to connect your Mac to your physical PC.

Please, check that in the local policy NTLM2 authentication is enabled as the default answer. That solved the issue for me.
