If you are referring to typing Polish characters with accents that are typed with the Alt Gr combination; try this press-release Ctrl key work around and see whether it works for you at the console

AltGr+<key>:

  1. Press and hold AltGr.
  2. Press and release Ctrl.
  3. Press and release <key>.
  4. Release AltGr.

Try this instead

Press and hold both AltGr and Ctrl key and then press the desired key for the AltGr combination.

With this method and I was able to type ą (and other Polish accent characters) on the console for a Windows 10 VM logon at the password and also using Notepad with the Polish keyboard selection. The language of the OS was still set at English.

Still no luck:(

I don't have any problems with typing polish characters when using VMware VSphere client (altgr+ key), but with esxi embedded host client both your methods don't work for me

I just used the HTML5 client in ESXi 6.5. I don't think this is necessarily a VMware issue; more likely related to how VNC/RDP protocol transmit keystrokes across. If I am not mistaken the console in the HTML5 client uses the VNC protocol.

It does feel a bit different to use four fingers (two fingers on each hand) to type out one character (AltGr+Ctrl+alpha key+Shift for caps); although likely not as difficult as playing a piano piece by Chopin :smileylaugh:

The OS I used to access the HTML5 client is Windows 10 but it doesn't have the Polish language/keyboard option installed; so maybe try switching the language/keyboard option of the machine where you access the console to use just English instead of Polish.

What browser do you use? I use Firefox and none of your tips don't work for me. My esxi version 6.5.0, host client version 1.21.0

Firefox 64-bit 54.0.1, to esx-ui 1.08-4516221, English keyboard settings ---> ESXi 6.5.0-4887370  ---> console to Windows 10 x64 15063 VM with PLP keyboard setting

I just found there is another Polish keyboard layout in Windows 10 called POL-214. If I select that keyboard, the AltGr+Ctrl does not work at all with FireFox.

I also found out that if I use Edge browser, I don't even have to hold the Ctrl key with the PLP keyboard and normal AltGr+key works fine inside the console. AltGr and AltGr+Ctrl also does not work with Edge if the keyboard selected on the VM appearing in the console is POL-214.
