Firstly, I've moved this thread to the VCP area.

Regarding the exam, start with the exam guide - which you can download from this page: vSphere 6.5 Foundations Exam

I'm in a similar situation. Besides the blueprint (which seems suspiciously similar to the 6.0 blueprint) I've been using the very helpful hands-on labs to get actual experience with the web client UI.

In addition I found the vmware walkthroughs helpful since they have a section dedicated to 6.5.

Other than those 6.5-specific resources I've been reading the 6.0 exam prep book which is a good overall refresher.

Good luck!

Hi scott28tt,

First of all exam guide is useless in terms of materials.

If you have other suggestions please share.

The large table of links in Section 3 of the exam guide takes you to suitable study material - it's collated by the same group of people who actually write the exam items, and they use those resources to validate the items.

I can understand that some concepts have not changed since 5.0 but the exam guide's reference table has a lot of old to very old KB articles. This does not inspire confidence! Is there anybody that has passed the foundation exam just by studying with the exam guide? I know this is an open-book exam but would love to be prepared to take the DCV exam for 6.5 - but looking at my option this would be:

  1. Wait till there is more study resource in form of Measure-Up Practice Questions
  2. Attend the equivalent course (too expensive) in the hope of receiving better guidance than just the product manual
  3. Just accept that this will take time to prepare and set up a study schedule (approx. 2-hour day/5 time a week)

My instructor tells me I should not worry, based on my previous and current experience, but my VCP5 did not come easy and this does not seem to be any different. I did one-shot the exam but had excellent resources from my course.

Any comment?

Hey berlip,

I am also looking for excellent study materials but did not find anything, i guess vmware is doing this in purpose (paying $4000) to attend the course.

I would be grateful if you share with us the excellent exam resources from your course to pass the foundation exam (at least i pass this exam until i have enough money to pay for the $4000 course).

Thank you !

Of course, and please do the same as I can use all the help I can get with my exam in less than 2 weeks!

If you have Pluralsight they have a good course on 6.5

What's New in vSphere 6.5? | Pluralsight

And if you don't have a subscription they offer a 10 day free trial.

They have a 28 hour long VCP-DCV training path, but it's around 6.0. Still might be good for an overall vSphere foundation.

Sure i will. I checked What's New in vSphere 6.5 | Pluralsight it looks very informative but did not use it yet. I have a PDF file about 6.0 and i shared it here vSphere Foundations exam ebook.pdf - Google Drive ... please let me know if you cannot access it.

Good luck in ur exam!

Hello,

Is there a reason you need the 6.5 Foundations exam? Is it for practical use or just for certification purposes?

The reason I ask is because the vSphere 6.0 Foundations exam will count towards the VCP6.5-DCV certification. Since there is more material out for the 6.0 exam, that may be easier to study. That's the route I went. I just took the vSphere 6.0 Foundtaions exam and am working on studying for the VCP6.5-DCV exam.

Just wanted to make you aware of that as an option if you are trying to get the VCP6.5-DCV exam.

Regards,

Hi maluther,

Actually it is the best route to take as long as there is no enough materials to study foundation 6.5. I am doing the same and hopefully will take the exam soon.
