Unable to add Host in VMware vCenter "vCenter does not support hosts of this type (VMware vCenter Server 6.5.0)"

I am using evaluation edition and am unable to add host (ESXi 6.0) in datacenter in VCenter using VMware web client 6.5. Getting below while while adding the host using IP:

"vCenter does not support hosts of this type (VMware vCenter Server 6.5.0)"

Host: ESXi 6.0

VCenter/VMware vsphere Webclient: 6.5

VMware webshere Webclient logs (C:\ProgramData\VMware\vCenterServer\logs\vsphere-client\logs\ vsphere_client_virgo.log) show following details on VCenter server:

[2017-07-02T11:13:59.899-07:00] [ERROR] -0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1-9090-exec-1 70000176 100002 200004 com.vmware.vsphere.client.host.impl.HostMutationProvider          Error when validating host connection com.vmware.vim.binding.vim.fault.NotSupportedHost: vCenter does not support hosts of this type (VMware vCenter Server 6.5.0).

It sounds like a license issue. Did you add any licenses to the ESXi host? Is the evaluation license still valid? Are you trying to add an ESXi host that is using the same IP address as a previous ESXi that was using a free or expired license?

Hi ITaap,

It was giving error as I was using the vcenter IP instead of Host/ESXi IP. I tried with Host IP and it worked fine.

Thanks.
