I have Office 2013 on the golden image. Goal was to make Visio and/or Project 2013 available in an AppStack. All versions are x86.
I installed Office 2013 on capture VM and was able to successfully capture Visio and Project as separate appstacks. Both Visio and Project can be assigned to a single VM at the same time and everything appears to work. Awesome so far.
I need to update Visio appstack to include SP1 and some security patches. Problem is I can't install SP1 on capture VM because SP1 installer says it doesn't find expected software to update.
Has anyone experienced the same issue? How can I resolve this issue?
I was able to install Visio SP1 using PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1 for the installer.
Are you capturing a new Visio AppStack with the patch? Have you tried updating the Visio AppStack?
Please refer to the documentation here. App Volumes Documentation Center
I can't install the patch during initial AppStack creation or during updating the AppStack.
Guess the patch is looking for some specific registry settings. Is it a MSI file?
If MSI, we can edit the MSI and remove the 'InstallCondition' table that checks for the registry key and continue the installation of patch.
Are you able to figure out whether the patch is a MSI or MSP/EXE?
How are you provisioning the update? If you don't have office on your build/provisioning desktop that might be related.
Patches are EXE files. Have not yet figured out why patching is failing.

I have Office installed on the provisioning desktop and is patched to the same level as the linked clones.
Try installing the patch outside of the AppStack (or App Volumes) just to double check the patch works.
I was able to install Visio SP1 using PACKAGE.BYPASS.DETECTION.CHECK=1 for the installer.
Great finding, good to hear that.
