VSAN 6.6 Health page and General settings not working since VCSA 6.5d update.

Vcenter 6.5d appliance update with VSAN 6.6, VSAN General edit & config broke? - Spiceworks

I started a thread above pls read and tell me what you thing

I have just updated my Vcenter appliance to 6.5d along with the ESXI hosts inc VSAN 6.6.  It all upgraded OK as far as i can tell but in the Webui of VCSA i cant see the top section of the VSAN general tab and the EDIT & CONFIGURATION buttons dont work.  Also the VSAN Heatlh page has stopped working. Also the Config assistant and update items dont work.

on the general buttons i get this error: -

Error occured while loading general configuration for vSAN.

on the VSAN health page i get this: -

type object 'Enum' has no attribute '_version'

Anyone got any ideas? My vsan vcluster was running fine with VCSA 6.5a.

Thanks

JK

I upgraded VCSA with external PSC from 6.5a to 6.5d yesterday with no issues, but in my case, I already had a vCenter and am working to setup a vSAN cluster in the next several days (vSAN not turned on yet).  Does this issue happen in all browsers (Chrome, IE, FireFox)?  If so, I am wondering if it might be time to contact support.

What about the vSAN health status within the embedded host client on each ESXi host?  Can you still view the overall health of the cluster that way?

Same in all browsers and on the hosts the health page seems to work and says its healthy.Yeah i was thinking about creating a new VSAN cluster and migrating to that to see if it resolves my issue?JK

Well same thing on a new cluster, so it has to be with the Vcenter appliance itself, looks like ill have to deploy a new appliance then backup the old appliance to restore on the new appliance.  But not sure if doing so will restore the issues aswell??  May just start from a clean appliance, VSAN migrates quite nicely as ive done so before. If anyone else has seen my original issue before pls let me know if and how you resolved it, hopefully i wont have resorted to the clean deployment by then! Thanks for the repliesJK

do the VCSA updates have the previous updates and patches in them?? ie you dont need to install all the upgrade rollups in order??  See I went from 6.5a to 6.5d.
I sure thats not the case, surely the rollups have all the patches included. Its starting to look like ill have to deploy a clean VCSA again, my VCSA HA has broke too.  I put it in maintenance mode to update the appliance itself and upgraded all 3 appliances, but now the HA cluster wont allow me to come out of maintenance mode.  the options are greyed out, also I tried removing the cluster to rebuild it but it didnt work I got an error saying the HA cluster is unhealthy.  So i cant even repair that now.My VSAN works but I cant use any of the new features in 6.6 aswell as losing the health page.Ive been unable to find any similar cases online to help troubleshoot so im lost at the moment.Any ideas anyone?JK

so i thought id add sceenshots to make my issue clear.

As you can see thats the VSAN general tab, they were filled before and the buttons worked.
Ive also lost the disk management.

No Config assist or Updates.Thats the issue I have.None of the errors help much
Thats mainly what i get.
Thats the error from the buttonsJK

Just to make sure, if you were upgrading from 6.0U3 to vSphere 6.5.x that's not a supported upgrade path.

I would not do anything that drastic (Unless this is a lab and your bored!). Sounds like a service that likely needs restarting.

If you intend on adding the hosts to the recovered appliance before the restore PLEASE read this quick note on multicast removal and how swapping out vCenter requires you first run a command on all your hosts.esxcfg-advcfg -s /VSAN/IgnoreClusterMemberListUpdates 1

This will allow you to move all the hosts into a new vCenter safely (then reset that by running)
esxcfg-advcfg -s /VSAN/IgnoreClusterMemberListUpdates 0Side note, i"m working with William and Jase on a script to automate this.

Yup. Note you can update the VCSA from itself.

Please resist the urge when redeploying the VCSA to check the box to "setup vSAN on the host" as you already have a functioning vSAN/datastore Smiley Happy

6.6 has been out for all of 3 days, so not a huge amount of posts to dig through. I haven't seen this in my lab (or any of the RC builds I've been working with) and I'm not seeing it as a known issue so I'm going to recommend you call GSS 1 (877) 486-9273. PM me the SR#.
If you want to troubleshoot in forums The VMware communities forums are watched by the dead architect and others who might be able to give you some recommendations.Edited Apr 21, 2017 at 8:16 AM

Asked around some more...Going into private mode (or clearing cache) resolved it for others. Try clearing your browser cache. If not open a ticket. There may be a known issue here.

thanks for repling storage ninja, Ive actually tried clearing the cache and using inprivate mode. still the same though.Ive tried everything i can think of but nothing has worked so far, what logs should i be looking at for VSAN in the VCSA UI?JK

Hi JohnKenny,

I've the same problem since patching vCenter (VCSA) from version 6.5b to 6.5d. See post Missing VSAN Config in VCenter Web Client

Did you solve the problem in the meanwhile? I'm also thinking about to backup vCenter DB und redeploy/restore the VCSA.

Regards,

Chris

Hi all,

I solved the problem!

In the (external) PSC and vCenter admin page (https://fqdn:5480) the timezone was not correct in my case. After fixing the timezone I've rebooted the PSC and vCenter, then the vSAN config is displayed in the Web Client again.

What I've also done before was adding the vSAN license one again. Not sure if this task is really necessary.

Regards,

Chris

HTML Client can be used to edit settings as a quick workaround until you restore / re-deploy VCSA...
