Hi All,
I am having the following error on VMware workstation after the latest update.
CDROM ide0:0: CMD 0xad (*UNKNOWN (0xad)*) FAILED (key 0x5 asc 0x24 ascq 0)
VMXVmdbGetExecInfoHashCB: failed: ret = VMDB failure
VMWare workstation Player Build : 12.5.5 build-5234757
On Windows 10.
Has anyone encountered this and what could be the possible resolution.
The log messages you are looking at are harmless. Thanks for providing the whole log... it shows that you should have received a more relevant error message on the screen at the time of the failure:
2017-05-06T11:08:41.587-04:00| vcpu-3| E105: PANIC: Semaphore 1000 wait failed: 257
This is a recently-discovered compatibility issue between the VMware Workstation and the very latest "fast ring" releases of Windows. We have determined that a function in Windows has changed its behavior in a way that no longer corresponds with its documentation and which causes VMware Workstation to occasionally fail in this way. We're investigating a workaround as well as reporting the problem to Microsoft. Until the problem is resolved (either in a new build of Windows or a new release of VMware Workstation), you may need to roll back to an earlier Windows build.
Thanks,

Hi again fsouza_in,
VMware Workstation Pro and Player 12.5.6 have been released, and contain a workaround for the "Semaphore nnnn wait failed: 257" compatibility issue affecting Workstation running on Windows 10 Creators Update.
VMware Workstation 12 Pro Version 12.5.6 Release Notes
Download VMware Workstation Pro
VMware Workstation 12 Player Version 12.5.6 Release Notes
Download VMware Workstation Player
Please let us know if you continue to encounter "Semaphore nnnn wait failed: 257" errors after applying the update.
Cheers,
