Office 2016 Pro Plus (O365) Visio & Project in Appstacks

Hello

We are trying to figure out the best combination for deploying Office 365 applications on our Horizon 7 installation.

We have successfully created AppStacks for:

  • Office 365 / 2016
  • Office 365 / 2016 + Visio 2016
  • Office 365 / 2016 + Project 2016
  • Office 365 / 2016 - Visio + Project 2016

We use numerous Office plugins and found that found that we could not get all of them to work with Office in the AppStacks, and therefore now installing Office 2016 ProPlus (O365) into our base image where the plugins all function perfectly.

What we now want to do is deploy Visio ProPlus 2016 (O365) and Project ProPlus 2016 as AppStacks to supplement the installation  of Office in the core Windows 10 build.

Is this supported? and if so is there a recipe to make this work? as when we run the setup /configure /Visio2016.xml (which does not contain the Office2016 installation) it does not install Visio.

Thanks in advance

Sean

Out of interest, our testing has shown that if we attach the full O365 AppStack (including Word, Excel, Outlook etc) with Visio / Project everything actually seems to work just fine!

It seems that when we launch Word, the local copy of Word is run (rather than the version in the AppStack) as all the plugins function correctly, however Visio and Project also work.

Is there a downside to this configuration? Would I need to exclude all of the folders for everything except Project and Visio in the SnapVol.cfg? (very complicated)

Any thoughts?

How does your Office 365/2016 + Visio 2016 usage square with Microsoft's rule

  https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Office-installed-with-Click-to-Run-and-Windows-Installer-on...

against mixing ClickToRun and MSI Office products?

Can you identify some of the Office plugins that failed when included with Office 365/2016 in an AppStack?

Deploying Office 365 concurrently in the base image and an AppStack sounds unwise, even if I can't identify any function that may break.  Are you using Win7 or Win10?  Did you first try to install Office 365 only in the base, and only Visio 365 in an AppStack?  Would you do that via the choice of "Product ID" sections in configuration.xml?
