Hi,
i have a VM with 4 disk, the first is a normal vmdk with the system of about 40GB, the other 3 disk are RDM in virtual mode.
I have to backup ONLY the first disk, the one with the OS.
I try to make a backup with only this disk and it seems that all is ok, but when i try to restore it, vdp say that it cann't be restored
because there are no space on vmfs because he have registered somewhere that th VM have also other 3 disk very big.
How can i make a backu of ONLY the OS disk?
Thank!!!
Enrico
When you create a backup job and Image level backup, you will have an option to backup full Image or individual drives.
You can select which drive you need to backup at this point.

i have the same problem
select only one disk to backup, whithout rdm disk
when i restore, it seems to restore the rdm disk together
i think is because the vmx file defined include my rdm disk
someone can resolve the problem?
I have exactly the same issue on VDP 6.1.4. I have a VM with one small OS disk and two large disks configured in "independent mode". To backup the OS disk, I used the "backup individuals disk" option, and the backup process is always successful without any problem. But the restore fails with the "Insufficient disk space on datastore" error. Here are some logs :

2017-04-27T10:22:36.512-02:00 avvcbimage Info <9772>: Starting graceful (staged) termination, Create VM failed during restore. (wrap-up stage)
Is there any workaround for it ?
Kind regards
Does anyone have a workaround about it ? The backup of individual disks is a great feature of the VDP 6. It's too bad it bugs.
