Problems connecting an iPhone on Linux host

Hello,

I am unable to connect my iPhone to my Workstation Player (v. 12.5.5) on Linux host (Fedora 25, kernel-4.10.200.fc25.x86_64 and previous versions). My iPod connects properly, but the iPhone seems to have issues.

When I plug in my iPhone a pop-up window asks if I want to connect a USB device to the virtual machine, detaching it from the host. I click "yes".  After a few seconds I get a second pop-up window and, whether I click "yes" or "cancel', the system seems to hang for a while, then nothing happens. If I try any action on that USB device, I get a window saying "unknown error".
