I am wondering if it's possible to configure my virtual flash with the embedded ESXi client GUI? I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I gave up for now...

Embedded host client is still in development stage. It will take some time to be in par with vSPhere client.
I would recommend to raise your question in Host Client fling portal.
