I have horizon client 4.4, does this client automatically update with windows or is it something i'll have to go machine to machine with? Maybe find 3rd party patching software?

Horizon Client don't update automatically.
If you only have a few clients the best way would be the manually update.
A 3rd party software for middle to big environments would be Baramundi for example.
