ESXi 6.5 Build 5310538

Howdy all!!

I'm running an ESXi box at home, and recently updated to theBuild 5310538 security release. And I'm now suddenly unable to access the Web Console on any of my VMs with Chrome.

I'm running chrome 58.0.3029.81

Whenever I try to open a Web Console, it never opens.

It works just fine on Edge, but that leaves me unable to access via Linux.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Did you check the VMware services?

So, I'm not sure it's a services thing (could you tell me which to look at?).  I say this, because it works just fine in Internet Explorer.  It just doesn't work in Chrome.

There was a post a few months old, but people have found a work around. TRY!

"Having the exact same problem... they discovered that when on the login page, after entering your login credentials, DO NOT HIT ENTER on your keyboard. Click the login button with your mouse. This allows you access without the error popping up. This isn't a long term solution, more a temporary work around"

So, I tried that, and on Chrome is still does not work.

Both pressing "enter" and clicking "login" both log me in, but I still can't access the web console.

Still having this issue.

Try this! "Accessing the vSphere Web Client from a Linux desktop"

Raul,

Appreciate the help, but my issue is with Chrome in general and is affected on both Windows and Linux...

VMRC, is just to access virtual machines on remote clients & configuring operating system settings and monitoring the VM console for VMware vSphere. Also, to modify virtual machine settings such as RAM, CPU cores, and disks. console access / client device

Just to everyone is on the same page...

EVERYTHING WORKS on the Web ESXi page ("https://servername/ui") with the EXCEPTION of the Web Console for each of the VMs on the Chrome browser.  I haven't checked firefox, but I will look when I get home.

Everything works perfectly in Internet Explorer.

The issue is ONLY with the Web Console of the VMs on the Chrome browser.

Year sure, I understood that, isn't it ?

Can you try with VMRC and let me know if it works.

So... When I use Internet Explorer, login, click on a VM, click on Actions, and then go to "Console" --> "Launch Remote Console", it works just fine, and just connects...

When I use chrome, I am presented with a login box, it has the error: "Failed to connect to www.domain.tld: invalid or expired session ticket."  The interesting part here, is that "www.domain.tld" is my webserver, NOT the domain name of my virtual server (which for discussion would be vm01.domain.tld).

I re-enter the username and password, and I get the error: "Failed to connect to www.domain.tld: HTTP error 403", again, that's not the hostname of my VM Server...

SO!!

I tested with IP (https://1.2.3.4/ui), and it works.  What could possibly be going wrong??

Let me ask you, when you use IE to logon the console, did you do it from a Windows O/S right?

Did you try with a different machine & got the same issue right?

If you said that from chrome you are presented with the login box, > which means that the machine is able to contact the vCenter.

The issue seems to be on how this machine is connecting to the console > IP or Domain Name.

If ERROR: "Failed to connect to www.domain.tld: invalid or expired session ticket." when your Domain is vm01.domain.tld that's telling me that you have a name resolution problem.

Try this*****

1. No matter what O/S Windows/Linux, add your local DNS server IP as the preferred DNS to your IPv4 TCP settings

2. On the "DNS" tab select "Append These DNS Suffixes (In Order)" & add "domain.tld"

3. Disable Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6)

4. Make sure you selected forward & reverse PTR on DNS records for the vCenter IP

Raul -

Believe it or not, I already have items 1-4 configured properly...

So...  I added another host to my DNS server as a CNAME to vm01.domain.tld.  I called it esx.domain.tld...  GET THIS... esx.domain.tld works exactly as expected...  what could POSSIBLY be going on???

You defenitly have a Name Resolution issue somewhere in your configuration!

Try to "Restore Network Settings" on the host & recheck DNS / DHCP settings. Also, items 1-4.
