Virtual Connnect for ESXI with 2 pNIC

Hi,

My ESXI host has 2 10GB NIC, I would like to configure Management, vMotion, Server traffic and VSAN traffic for that host. Which is the  best practices,Used Vritual connect and create 3 vmnic from the first 10 GB NIC then asigen those NICs to Mgmt, vMotion and VM traffic. The 2nd 10 GB will be for VSAN. Or should I used NIOC, shares and limits for the Management, vMotions and VMS traffic since the backend will the 10 GB NIC?

Thank you

Ideally you want to set one interface (nic0) as the active for Mgmt, vMotion, VM traffic, and set nic 1 as passive for vSAN. For vSAN vmk, do the reverse. set nic1 as active and nic 0 as standby. It is also recommended to use NIOC since vmotion traffic is very bursty.

You can set vSAN to HIGH (100 Shares), vMotion LOW (25 shares), management LOW (25 Shares), and VM traffic NORMAL (50 shares).
