Upgrading Patch for ESXi 5.5 Server

What all the things must be noted before updating patch to esxi server ,and what are the backup need to be done .

1. Host should be on maintenance mode.

2. No need any backup , but you can take management IP information.

3. If you are using distributed switch , then first upgrade vcenter server
