Unable to take snap shots of vms with shared independent disks

Hello All,

I am having an issue with attempting to take snapshots of a Oracle DB server (actually 2 of them). The setup is a RAC cluster with a shared disk between them. Usually when I set up this type of configuration, i generally follow the steps outlined here: Enabling or disabling simultaneous write protection provided by VMFS using the multi-writer flag (10...

In this case this was setup by someone else, and I am now dealing with the setup.  The issue, I believe, stems from the servers using a Physical SCSI Bus Sharing controller when sharing the hard drive rather then the setting of NONE.  The options to take a snapshot of the VMs is grayed out.  When attempting to change the controller to none, resetting the multi-writer flag, I get an error when attempting to restart the second VM about being unable to lock the shared drive.

I am wondering if there is any way to fix this deployment so that snapshots can be made of the VMs (the shared disk is always set to independent and is not affected by snapshots)?

Thanks,

Kevin
