Problem on modifying resolution to 1920x1080

Hello everyone,

I recently installed VMWare Workstation Player in my personal laptop, the problem is that the 1920x1080 resolution isn't available, after looking for information I installed the VMWare Tools, systemctl is telling me that it works fine, yet there is no way of changing the resolution to 1920x1080.

I tried several things using xrandr but it doesn't work at all.

I'm new to VMWare, do you know a way to make it works?

$ xrandr

Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192

XWAYLAND0 connected

   1280x768      59.87 +

$ uname -r

4.8.6-300.fc25.x86_64

# systemctl status vmware-tools

● vmware-tools.service - SYSV: Manages the services needed to run VMware softwar

   Loaded: loaded (/etc/rc.d/init.d/vmware-tools; generated; vendor preset: disa

   Active: active (running) since lun. 2017-01-30 22:49:41 CET; 25min ago

     Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)

Might be a newbie question but after spending several hours on it I couldn't find a solution :s

Help me dear VMWare lords

I resolved my problem, in fedora 25 it seems that vmware has some problem going full screen, in fact you need to switch from gnome to xorg before logging in, when you can enter your password, change the settings to xorg display.

Hope that helps

I hope this gets sorted out in future versions of Fedora as we can't keep coming back to X.  For example, apparently self contained packages (snaps etc.) apparently miss out on some of their security features when running under X.
