If it's post-upgrade, it's possible the checkbox to "Reset out of the Box Content" was not selected, in which case the widgets/dashboards would not get "updated" to the most recent version and references metrics that changed names and or were removed. The way you can fix this is by either editing the widget to select the proper metrics, or re-install the Horizon PAK file but this time select both checkboxes.

Please remember that anything modified from out of the box will be RESET so if you have lots of configuration changes to the default dashboards, I would export them so you have copies. As always, take a snapshot prior to any upgrade in case you need to revert!

KPI (Taken from vRealize Operations Manager 6.0.1 Documentation Center)

An attribute is a collectible data component. You can enable or disable metric, property, and super metric attributes for collection, and set attributes as key performance indicators (KPIs). A KPI is the designation of an attribute that indicates that the attribute is important in your own environment.

vRealize Operations Manager treats KPIs differently from other attributes. Threshold violations by a KPI generate different types of alerts from non-KPI attributes.

When a KPI violates a threshold, vRealize Operations Manager examines the events that preceded the violation. If it finds enough related information, vRealize Operations Manager captures the set of events that preceded the violation as a fingerprint. If it finds a similar series of events in the future, it can issue a predictive alert warning that the KPI violation is likely to occur.

DT is Dynamic Threshold. Enabling this will cause vrops to monitor that metric over a period of time and it will learn that metrics normal operating levels. You can then set an alert to only trigger if the metric goes out side of the normal operating level.

State is the impotent one. It will enable or disable the metric from being collected. It does not matter what the other tow are set to if the state is disabled you are not collecting that metric hence it will show no data in the dashboards.

Hi SXNXR,

I found why my dashboard is not showing any data, it is due to widget configuration (the widget which is not showing data on dashboard is not created in widget list because I can't see any widget under default widget's [I mean there is no widget name under default widgets of vROPS's which is showing as name as one I got it as part of default widget's in default dashboard] )

Now I have to create new widget's and replace them in default dashboard, is there any best practices that I have to fellow while creating widgets?

Personal i would not edit any default dashboards. If you want to modify one clone it to a different name and edit that one. This is because when i do an upgrade to a new version i tell the upgrade to reset all out of the box dashboards in case they get new/updated widgets. If you had modified the default dashboards it would remove all your hard work.

I am not sure what you mean by creating widgets. You dont create widgets they are already created. You configure them to display data and add them to dashboards.

What is the dashboard you want to change and what you want to change it to?
