Unable to clear the alert after HDD replacement

Hi all,

Recently, I got a fault HDD failure on my DELL R510 server.

I had replace it, and DELL OMSA looks normal, but I still got the warning saying the Array Rebuild in Prgorss.

But, in OMSA is saying the rebuild is finish.

I had already tried the following:

  • Go to Hardware Status tab and select the System event log view.
  • Click Reset event log
  • Click Update. The error should now be cleared.
  • Select the Alerts and warnings view.
  • Click Reset sensors.
  • Click Update. The memory should now be cleared.
  • If the error is not cleared, connect to the host via SSH.
  • Restart the sfcbd service
  • To restart the service in ESXi, run this command:
  • services.sh restart
  • To restart the service in ESX, run this command
  • service sfcbd restart
  • Click Update. The error should now be cleared.

And the server is reboot as well, the warning still exists.

Any experts got an idea?

Thanks,
Edwin

Hello Edwinli07,

I believe you have tried the steps in this KB

Have you tried the step, which is mentioned in the note on the same KB. Please try the steps and share the results

  • If the issue persists, place the host in the maintenance mode and then remove and re-add it to the cluster.

Thanks,

MS

Thanks msripada,

Yes, I had already clear all the logs within DRAC.

Can you please explain more how to re-add it to the cluster?

I'm planning to remove the replacement on this weekend, and re-plug it to see any difference.

Thanks,
Edwin

Put the host in Maintenance mode before you follow the below steps:

Removing the ESXi/ESX host from the vCenter Server

To remove the ESXi/ESX host from vCenter Server:

  1. Click Inventory.
  2. Expand the Inventory as needed, and click the appropriate managed host.
  3. Right-click the managed host icon in the inventory panel and select Disconnect (wait for the task to complete).
  4. Right-click the managed host icon in the Inventory panel and select Remove.
  5. Click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the managed host and all its associated virtual machines.

Adding the ESXi/ESX host to the same vCenter Server

To add the ESXi/ESX host to a new vCenter Server:

  1. Connect the vSphere Client or vSphere Web Client to the new vCenter Server.
  2. Click Inventory in the navigation bar.
  3. Expand the Inventory as needed and click the appropriate datacenter or cluster.
  4. Click File > New > Add Host.
  5. In the first page of the Add Host wizard, enter the name or IP address of the managed host in the Host name field.
  6. Enter the username and password for a user account that has administrative privileges on the selected managed host.
  7. Click Next.
